Program One

1. Shared Community Audio-Visual Equipment Pool

The core operational activity of ASS LA BOITE A MATOS is the stewardship and loan of our communal equipment inventory. Stored, maintained, and tested in our depot at 3 Chemin du Couvent in Lacourt, our inventory represents over a decade of collective mutualization.

Participating non-profit associations, amateur music troupes, traditional dance circles, and village festival committees can access complete sound systems, digital mixing desks, cardioid stage microphones, multicore snakes, active stage monitors, and low-energy LED wash lighting fixtures. Rather than charging commercial rental fees, equipment is made available to affiliated members who contribute an annual statutory membership contribution.

This non-commercial pooling model eliminates financial barriers, enabling small village associations to organize high-fidelity acoustic concerts, outdoor poetry readings, and traditional Occitan fêtes that would otherwise be economically impossible.

2. Stage Safety Certification & Electrical Auditing

Public safety is a legal and moral obligation for every community gathering. Under French administrative law governing events open to the public, event organizers must guarantee compliant electrical grounding, secure structural staging, and unobstructed crowd egress channels.

Through our Stage Safety Program, our trained volunteer technicians visit event venues across Ariège prior to public opening. We perform dielectric insulation testing, verify that temporary electrical connections do not overload municipal transformers, install heavy-duty rubber cable ramps to eliminate pedestrian trip hazards, and verify that stage platforms are anchored securely against mountain wind gusts.

We also provide calibrated sound level meters (sonomètres homologués) and continuous decibel data loggers to ensure events comply with public health acoustic thresholds (Code de la santé publique), protecting the hearing of children and attendees while fostering harmonious coexistence with local neighborhood residents.

3. Free Technical Masterclasses & Community Mentorship

True empowerment comes from knowledge transfer. We believe that rural communities should not depend perpetually on outside commercial contractors to run basic cultural events. Our association delivers free educational workshops at our Lacourt warehouse and in rural community halls throughout the Couserans.

Course topics include:

• Analog & Digital Sound Engineering: Microphone placement, gain staging, dynamic equalizers, and avoiding acoustic feedback loops in reverberant stone buildings.
• Safe Stage Rigging & Load Balancing: Proper use of certified truss clamps, safety steel backups, and weight distribution on temporary platforms.
• Electrical Distribution & Three-Phase Safety: Calculating wattage, balancing phases across neutral lines, and implementing differential circuit breakers.
• Acoustic Decibel Monitoring: Operating logging sound level meters and implementing dynamic volume moderation for public health.

Program Four

4. Inter-Communal Cultural Mutualization & Emergency Backup

Unforeseen technical breakdowns can jeopardize months of volunteer preparation. When an audio amplifier fails on the afternoon of a village festival, rural organizers cannot easily find a commercial replacement in a mountain valley.

ASS LA BOITE A MATOS operates a 24/7 volunteer emergency hotline and replacement dispatch pool during peak festival weekends. Member associations can quickly secure substitute power supplies, replacement DI boxes, spare microphones, or emergency cable extensions from our Lacourt depot, ensuring that community festivals continue smoothly and joyfully without cancellation.
