Arrival of New Low-Energy Multi-Spectrum LED Stage Lighting

Thanks to capital equipment funding from the Occitanie Regional Cultural Council, ASS LA BOITE A MATOS has received a new fleet of sixteen energy-efficient LED wash and profile fixtures. These fixtures consume less than 120 watts each while delivering vibrant, warm illumination equivalent to traditional 750-watt halogen lamps.

This investment allows small village halls with limited electrical capacity to host beautifully illuminated evening theatre productions without tripping local breakers or causing electrical brownouts.

2025 Annual General Assembly Confirms Strong Public Utility

Over forty active volunteers and civic delegates gathered at our Lacourt depot for the Annual General Assembly. Treasurer Bernard Cazeneuve presented the certified financial statement, noting that 100% of all public subsidies and annual member contributions were successfully reinvested into equipment maintenance and safety gear renewals.

The assembly voted unanimously to approve the moral and financial reports, re-electing the Executive Board and confirming our 2026 priority focus on rural youth mentorship.

Partnership Renewal with Communauté de Communes Couserans-Pyrénées

Following a comprehensive civic review, the Communauté de communes Couserans-Pyrénées has formally renewed its inter-communal cooperation convention with ASS LA BOITE A MATOS for an additional three-year term. The convention provides vital operational subsidies that guarantee free technical advisory consultations and discounted equipment mutualization for all thirty-eight member communes.

This partnership ensures that small mountain hamlets benefit from equitable access to high-fidelity stage sound and professional safety audits without straining isolated municipal treasuries.

Release of the 2026 Ariège Rural Stage Safety Guide

Our technical safety committee has finalized and published the third edition of the "Rural Public Event Safety Handbook". Distributed freely in digital and printed formats to every town hall in Ariège, the guide offers step-by-step instructions for calculating electrical load limits, grounding generator neutrals, anchoring temporary structures against mountain wind shear, and handling emergency crowd management during summer village celebrations.

Copies may be collected at our Lacourt depot or requested through our administrative contact form.

Community Ethics

Public Access Guidelines & Community Participation Code

Every workshop, seminar, and cultural event supported by ASS LA BOITE A MATOS is conducted under strict non-commercial, public interest protocols. We believe that public culture belongs equally to all residents regardless of socioeconomic background. To preserve this civic spirit:

  • Zero Commercial Merchandising: Our events strictly prohibit commercial vendor solicitations, private financial sponsorships, or predatory merchandising that detracts from communal fellowship.
  • Universal Physical Accessibility: All venue installations must provide level, barrier-free access ramps and designated viewing areas for persons with reduced mobility (PMR), with all cabling safely encased in rubber transit bridges.
  • Acoustic Auditory Care: Certified decibel logging ensures sound pressure levels remain below statutory limits. Complimentary certified foam earplugs and child hearing earmuffs are provided at the sound mixing console for any citizen upon request.
  • Democratic Non-Discrimination: Our spaces welcome all individuals with dignity and respect. Any speech or conduct promoting hate, exclusion, or discrimination is strictly forbidden on association premises and supported stages.

"All membership fees and dues are fully reinvested in the association's public interest missions."

Acoustic outdoor concert in Lacourt village square supported by association audio gear

Lacourt Village Square Acoustic Concert (Summer 2025)

On August 12, 2025, our home village of Lacourt hosted an open-air celebration bringing together three local Pyrenean acoustic ensembles and over 450 residents and visitors. Our technical team provided complete sound reinforcement, configuring cardioid vocal microphones and direct acoustic inputs for guitars, accordions, and mandolins.

Because the concert took place adjacent to historic stone masonry and private residences, our sound engineers maintained precise decibel control, ensuring sparkling audio fidelity throughout the square while preserving tranquility for resting neighbors. The event concluded with zero safety incidents and deep community acclaim.

Tarascon-sur-Ariège Youth Theatre Showcase (Autumn 2025)

In October 2025, five youth theatre troupes from rural schools in Tarascon-sur-Ariège gathered for a weekend festival of classical and contemporary drama. Facing an entirely empty municipal multipurpose room, ASS LA BOITE A MATOS stepped in to build a 24-square-meter modular stage complete with perimeter safety skirting, guardrails, and automated DMX stage lighting cues.

Our volunteers mentored twelve high school students during stage assembly and sound check sessions, teaching them how to cue scene changes and balance wireless headset microphones. The showcase was attended by over 600 family members and local citizens, celebrating the boundless creativity of Ariège's youth.

Foix Inter-Generational Heritage Showcase (Winter 2024)

In December 2024, our technical team traveled to Foix to support an inter-generational gathering commemorating local oral traditions, storytelling, and Pyrenean accordion music. Over 300 senior citizens, families, and young musicians gathered for an afternoon of shared cultural transmission.

To accommodate hearing-impaired attendees, our volunteers installed an assistive induction audio loop (boucle à induction magnétique) connected directly to our main mixing desk, allowing elderly community members wearing compatible hearing aids to experience the recitals with pristine clarity and zero reverberation.
